Activation
Systems
Many communities have invested substantial resources
for notification systems and equipment that are still operational,
but too costly to replace and do not meet 21st century technology
standards. WSI’s activation systems can web and CAP enable
those legacy systems for a fraction of the cost to replace them.
Providing remote capabilities and interoperability to these systems
dramatically improves functionality and provides a safe-guard to
the original ROI by allowing emergency managers to notify with
enhanced agility.
AdaptAlert™ RF Activation System
The AdaptAlert RF Activation System adds an internet
front-end to existing tone encoded devices such as outdoor siren
systems, pagers, and tone radios which allow them to be activated
from anywhere an internet connection is available. This can speed
activation and add redundancy for sites where there isn’t
already a back-up activation solution. The system can activate
using DTMF, two-tone, and single-tone sequences. If the target
system uses over-air audio, WSI’s text-to-speech (TTS) conversion
can be used in place of live audio. This can expedite activation
and alleviate audio problems that can occur during stressful events.
The system also allows pre-recorded audio files to be stored or
uploaded and played on demand. WSI’s activation systems require
password authorization and use the highest level of encryption
available for all communications.
All of WSI’s activation systems can be
accessed directly using the on-board web interface, or by accepting
a CAP message from another alert dissemination system. The result
of our systems being interoperable is our customers have greater
flexibility when designing their alert and warning infrastructure.
This means that disparate systems can be activated and subsequently
integrated from a single web-based form allowing many systems and
technologies to become one homogenous system for rapid alerts and
warnings.
AdaptAlert™ EAS Activation System

The AdaptAlert EAS Activation System enhances
the Emergency Alert System (EAS) while providing solutions to many
of the problems that plague it. The AdaptAlert EAS system web and
CAP enables the legacy EAS by interfacing with existing EAS encoder/decoders.
Primary broadcast stations become addressable so that they can
be geo-targeted individually or activated as a group, eliminating
the need for over-air daisy chaining of alerts. The benefits are
multi-fold. The responsibility for activation is given to emergency
managers, especially key since so many stations run unattended
at night, and the station gets good clean audio since it’s
created on site rather than being received as part of a relayed
transmission.
Like all of WSI’s activation systems
it can be activated using the on-board web-interface or integrated
as part of another alert dissemination system using CAP. The
CAP to EAS message can be generated using synthesized audio (TTS),
or with a pre-recorded audio file. The TTS audio can be previewed
whether being accessed locally or from another system and regional
word pronunciations can be phonetically trained. For added redundancy
or in the absence of network connectivity, WSI’s systems
can be accessed with an ad-hoc peer-to-peer connection.
